Michael L. Biehl's primary areas of practice are commercial real estate financing and real estate lender servicing, including loan underwriting, origination, documentation, servicing, foreclosures, workouts and bankruptcy. Typical loan transactions over the last twenty-five years regularly include: commercial office buildings, shopping centers, residential/commercial/mixed use condominiums, apartment buildings, subdivisions, high end residential, hotels and golf courses.
His secondary focus of practice includes construction development counseling for developers, contractors and design professionals, and construction litigation on behalf of lenders, sureties, developers, contractors, architects and engineers.
He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of commercial real estate loan origination, loan workouts, lender servicing, and construction litigation.
He was the primary attorney involved in liquidating GE Capital Hawaii's $800MM portfolio.
